“Soda without cane sugar” is a real New Zealand search. It is not the same as “zero sugar.” Classic cola and lemon-lime are built on cane-sugar syrup. A lot of the “healthy” replacements swap that syrup for stevia.
Sidekick does neither. Sweetness comes from New Zealand honey and the fruit in the can. No cane sugar. No stevia. No erythritol.
Cane sugar vs honey vs diet
Cane-sugar soda (cola, Sprite, most post-mix) is the default fridge. Familiar. Sweet. A different job: Honey soda vs Sprite in NZ.
Diet / stevia soda removes the sugar and puts a zero-cal sweetener in its place. Different job again.
Honey soda still has sugar — from honey and fruit — and still tastes like fruit soda. Softer than cane-sugar syrup. Not a diet aftertaste.

What “no cane sugar” does not mean
It does not mean no sugar. Read the panel. Under 4 g per 100 ml. Roughly 40–50 calories per 250ml can.
It does not mean a health ranking. We do not sell Sidekick as a medical product.
It does not mean every fruit is grown in New Zealand. Honey and apple cider vinegar are. Fruit is named on the flavour — Mango is North Queensland, Strawberry is Waikato. The label is the source of truth.
If you wanted the other door
No stevia and no erythritol either: Soda without stevia or erythritol NZ.
